Woof N’ Whisker was created to make everyday feeding more appealing, more nourishing, and easier for pets and their people.
Our story began with my dog, Dumpling, now 13, yet still often mistaken for a puppy.
I’m Michelle, founder of Woof N’ Whisker and a pet parent like you. As Dumpling got older, I wanted to make sure he was getting the best support through his everyday meals.
That’s when I discovered Balance Flake and Purfect Flake, dog and cat food toppers developed by pet nutritionist Naoko Okamoto, based on a formulation trusted since 2006.
Dumpling has enjoyed Balance Flake daily for nearly five years, and I’ve seen firsthand how consistent, quality nutrition can make a real difference.
Why We Started
It started with a simple question:
Why accept less for our pets than we do for ourselves?
We saw a gap between convenient pet food and truly thoughtful daily nutrition.
Many pets were eating the same meals every day, but losing interest, eating inconsistently, or needing extra support.
We wanted to create something simple to use, made with purpose, and easy to fit into real feeding routines.
Inspired by Japanese food culture
Our approach is inspired by Japanese food culture, where everyday meals focus on simple, functional ingredients that support long-term health.
That philosophy shaped our toppers, practical, nourishing, and easy to use as part of daily feeding.
The Expert Behind Every Product
Naoko Okamoto is a qualified Pet Nutritionist and Pet Care Advisor who has spent nearly 20 years helping pets in Sydney live healthier, longer lives through fresh nutrition. She founded Chew Chew Pet Restaurant in 2010 — one of the city's first dog-only dining destinations — and became known as Sydney's Doggie Aunty for her warmth, expertise, and genuine care for pets and owners alike.
Balance Flake began in her restaurant kitchen as a daily nutrition supplement served with every meal. Woof N' Whisker is the next evolution of that work — bringing the same human-grade, whole-food standard into homes across Australia.
